At Genealogic Scotland I provide a tailor-made service. Some searches progress quickly and smoothly, while others can hit against brick walls. After discussing your requirements, we will agree a search plan, and keep you informed of progress along the way.
As a starting point, I would recommend a minimum of 4 - 5 hours research. Depending on the information you are able to supply, this should allow me to trace at least one line back to the mid-nineteenth century, which should be at least three or four generations.
I can focus on a particular line (for instance, your father's father, and so on), and take it back as far as possible, or can investigate more recent generations with information on your ancestors' siblings and their children (your cousins), where possible. Before starting work, we will establish what sort of search you are looking for, and I will endeavour to meet your requirements.
Findings will include information from the statutory records of Births, Marriages and Deaths, as well as Census returns. Where possible, there will be additional background information to "flesh out" your ancestors' stories. This might include historic maps, photographs and local and historical background.
